Directors and managers of all UK companies now have duty of care obligations under Health & Safety legislation.
Failure to fulfill these obligations can result in prosecution and substantial fines.
Use our checklist to ensure the lamp recycling company you choose is helping you to meet your obligations.
Ensure that spent fluorescent tubes and sodium lamps are safely stored
in a suitable container prior to their removal from your premises.
1
Ensure that the storage container you choose allows full sight
of its contents when opened, to allow lamps to be deposited without the risk of
breakages. Typically, this requires a container with a full-length lid rather than
one employing tube construction.
3
Ensure that the container is of a suitable size, allowing it to
be moved to the work location without risk of injury.
4
Ensure all containers display Health & Safety
signs describing the potential hazards associated with their contents.
